The Battle for Truth

Posted on February 5, 2024

by Sherrie Holland

In January, our head intercessor, Sherrie Holland wrote this for those who pray for Streams Ministries. I felt that it would be a blessing for many more people, so I wanted to release it as a blog. I pray it blesses and encourages you! John E. Thomas

Jesus loves us, (the Church), and gave Himself for us, so that He might sanctify us, having cleansed us by the washing of the water of the Word, so that He may present us to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that we may be holy and without blemish.

Today, we are in a battle for truth. Everywhere we look, false narratives are being spoken, evil is called good and good evil. The Word of God tells us this is what will happen when the hearts of many grow cold and forsake the truth for a lie.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! —Isaiah 5:20–21

Thankfully, as those who have been born from above, we can take courage because the Holy Spirit of Truth lives in us to lead, and to bear witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

—John 16:13–14

Our responsibility comes in allowing the Lord to transform us through the renewing of our minds so that we walk as children of light. We are to make the best use of the time because the days are evil. We are called to understand what the will of God is.

Our prayer life will have a great influence on how we walk in the days ahead. Our close communion with the Lord, through the relationship developed in prayer, will cause us to know His will and what pleases Him. He doesn’t leave us as orphans. We have sonship and friendship when we come to the family of God. In our sonship and friendship with God, our hearts are established in righteousness and truth. He is our Trustworthy King. He will lead us. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

My prayer for us today: Father, sanctify us in the truth; Your Word is truth. Amen!
